I cannot BELIEVE how much snow we have. And it's still coming! It's snowed for about 30 hours at this point, non-stop. It's really crazy. I have to go out and shovel soon. I'm not looking forward to it.

Is anyone else having trouble with LJ today? It's taking forever to load, and sometimes it's just flat-out not loading.

[livejournal.com profile] halona requested the recipe I was talking about last night, so I'm posting it in case anyone else wants it.

Cake:

3c flour
2c sugar
6 tbsp cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Mix ingredients with a fork Add-

2 tbsp white vinegar
2 tsp vanilla
3/4c vegetable oil
2c cold water

Mix with fork.

Pour into 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Hershey's Icing. (This is totally optional, but I highly recommend using it. It's awesome.)

9 3/4 oz of Hershey's chocolate (You can sort of wing this, anything from 9 - 10 ounces is fine.)
1 tbsp butter
3 tbsp milk
3/4 tsp vanilla

Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Add butter and milk. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

FYI, I'm making another boring grammar post later today, as requested.

I'm having the exact same experience with LJ. God, LJ is totally sucking today. Which really blows because it's not like I can go anywhere what with all the freaking snow that has crippled the city. Stupid snow.

Thanks for the cake recipe though. I think I might have to try it.

No kidding. We can't go anywhere, either. It's crazy.

No problem! It's really easy, and it's so good.

Cool. I'll try this out and post pictures of the results. I will proably use regular out-of-the-container frosting though, just because I already have some in the fridge and because I don't even know what a double boiler looks like. Thanks!

No problem! Enjoy!

Oh, and for the future, a double boiler is actually just a metal bowl placed on top of a saucepan full of boiling water. That's usually how you melt chocolate on top of the stove so it doesn't burn.

Hee. I'm actually about to post it. It's just more about commas, 'cause honestly, I didn't know exactly what to do next.

YOU ARE AWESOME. My mother just became vegan, and while I'm vegetarian, I'm all about eggs in my baking, so I was a bit lost (I often bake for my family). Thank you!

Oh, yay! I'm glad it helps! It's super easy, too.

yay! But oh help dilemma: I was thinking of baking this tonight, and I need some clarification. When you say "cocoa," do you mean like hot chocolate powder, or melted unsweetened cocoa? I assume the latter, but it would be awesome if it were the former (that's what I've got...).

Cocoa powder. But not like Swiss Miss or something, but actual cocoa. I always just get Hershey's cocoa powder. I don't even know if there's another brand that makes it. Does that help clarify it?
