You know how you know you shouldn't do something, but you do it anyway? Yeah, so I watched the movie Sicko by Michael Moore, and I am ENRAGED. And it's not like it told me anything I didn't essentially already know.
Our health care system is fucked. It's truly disgusting how many people don't get treated for illness and injury. And having insurance isn't even a guarantee that you'll get the help you need, since claims are denied constantly.
We're the only western country without universal health care. Cuba has better health care than we do. My God, France seems like Utopia. (No lie, I seriously want to move to France right now. They pay for college. For free.)
I just don't understand how our country has let this happen. Why are we not standing in protest of this? All of us need to rise up and force it. We need to take care of each other, and we're not. A French person that Michael Moore spoke with put it really well, that in France, the government is afraid of the people, but in America, the people are afraid of the government. How sad is that? They're our government. They should be frightened that we'll take their power away from them, but we let them run all over our rights and let the HMOs buy them. It's disgusting.
So, anyway, anyone want to put me up in Canada? It's better than America. At least I'll be able to go to the hospital if I chop off my fingers and not have to choose which finger I want to save, because I CAN'T PAY FOR BOTH TO BE REATTACHED.
