You know how you know you shouldn't do something, but you do it anyway? Yeah, so I watched the movie Sicko by Michael Moore, and I am ENRAGED. And it's not like it told me anything I didn't essentially already know.

Our health care system is fucked. It's truly disgusting how many people don't get treated for illness and injury. And having insurance isn't even a guarantee that you'll get the help you need, since claims are denied constantly.

We're the only western country without universal health care. Cuba has better health care than we do. My God, France seems like Utopia. (No lie, I seriously want to move to France right now. They pay for college. For free.)

I just don't understand how our country has let this happen. Why are we not standing in protest of this? All of us need to rise up and force it. We need to take care of each other, and we're not. A French person that Michael Moore spoke with put it really well, that in France, the government is afraid of the people, but in America, the people are afraid of the government. How sad is that? They're our government. They should be frightened that we'll take their power away from them, but we let them run all over our rights and let the HMOs buy them. It's disgusting.

So, anyway, anyone want to put me up in Canada? It's better than America. At least I'll be able to go to the hospital if I chop off my fingers and not have to choose which finger I want to save, because I CAN'T PAY FOR BOTH TO BE REATTACHED.

I hate, hate, hate when people make posts saying they're doing friends cuts and "comment to be kept!" I will never comment on those, and in fact, if you make them, chances are I'll just cut you right then. Somewhat related to this, I also hate members only icon communities. I do not exist to drive your comment count or member amount higher. Argh.

I do this thing where I get out of the habit of watching a show for no reason whatsoever, and then I decide to get caught up and I spend days watching all the episodes I've missed. Right now I'm doing it with Private Practice, and I can't believe how much I've missed this show. I forgot how much I liked it. The only thing I don't care for is the Addison/Pete stuff. They have NO chemistry. I like Pete okay, but honestly, if they're going to keep pushing this, I'd rather he just left the show, which would be a shame, because I enjoy Tim Daly. Plus, I LOVE the SWAT guy, who will always be Christopher to me. Also, I kind of want to have Chris Lowell's babies, I'm just sayin'. I've only seen through episode 2.08 at this point, so please don't spoil me.

I managed to talk my cousin Meredith into going to see Fall Out Boy with me, and I'm so excited. She doesn't even like them that much, (clearly she's crazy) so I can't believe she's going. It's gonna be awesome, though. I think I'm maybe more excited about seeing Cobra Starship than FOB, but either way, I'm going to have a great time. I just have to get Meredith to understand the error of her ways between now and then. She has terrible taste in music, I'm not kidding. She does like Ivy League, though. Maybe if I tell her who's in it that would sway her towards Cobra.

Okay, so I've been doing this incredibly stupid thing (shocking, right?) and lurking this place called [livejournal.com profile] therightfangirl. I haven't been trolling or anything ridiculous like that, I've just been going there to see what conservatives have been saying about the election and stuff.

Cut because wow, this got LONG. )

So, my local station that carries NBC has been dropped by Time Warner. Or refuses to be carried on it, I'm not sure how that works. Apparently because TWC refuses to pay as much as WDTN wants. I can't decide who I'm more annoyed at, TWC, who has enough money to pay whatever they're asking, or WDTN for not just sucking it up and going with it, because surely being on the air and getting paid a smaller amount than you like is better than not being on air at all. And it seems the only thing they're being carried on right now is DISH Network, and since I'm pretty sure that not that many people have that in this area, they have to be losing money in advertising.

They said on their website that they're still trying to negotiate, but they don't know when or if they'll be able to come to an agreement. I'm sorry, but I do not see Time Warner giving in on this. I mean, they can afford to lose the revenue. Also, they're shitty, so they probably won't simply because they're jerks. This is also happening to a flister who lives in a completely different part of the country, so is TWC just refusing to pay as much as they're supposed to, or have the NBC affiliates just gone wild? Heh.

It's so irritating. We have no desire to go to satellite, which is the only alternative around here, since Time Warner is the only cable company around. Stupid companies with their stupid monopolies. When I was a kid we had actual choices about this stuff, and now we're stuck with whoever. It's the same way with the electric, there's only one company and that's who we have to go with. It's crap.

Hm, that turned into a rant. Sorry about that.

I watched Mamma Mia last night. It was okay. I'm usually all about musicals, no matter how good they are, but for some reason that didn't work for me. I enjoyed the music, though. You can never really go wrong with Abba. And no matter what he's in, Colin Firth always makes me smile. So I didn't hate it, I just didn't like it as much as I expected to.

Um, I want to end on a happy note. Oh, Frank shaved his pedostache! I'm still not back in Frank Iero sex chicken, but this is a step in the right direction! Oh, Frank.

Effing Martha Stewart. All I want to do, ALL I WANT TO DO is order flowers for my mother for Mother's day. WHY MUST YOU MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT, MARTHA? Last year it was a pain in the ass because your website SUCKS, and this year you've combined evil forces with 1-800-flowers and now your evil is DOUBLED.

WHY ARE NONE OF THE FLOWERS ABLE TO BE DELIVERED TO WHERE I LIVE? WHY? I don't live in the middle of nowhere, I live in a suburb, for God's sake! A suburb of a decent sized city! WTF? Why are you taking your post-prison bitterness out on me?! I JUST WANT PRETTY FLOWERS FOR MY MOTHER!

1. Not using paragraphs. For example:

Jared loved Jensen so much that he couldn't stand it.
When they walked down the street together holding hands his heart leapt!
Leapt, I say!
Jared said, "Jensen, I love you like I love my dogs."
"Oh, Jared," Jensen replied, "let us not talk of your dogs, let us talk of our love, which is like the sun and the moon."
They kept walking down the street, content in their love.
And they lived happily ever after.
The end.

Do. Not. Do.

2. Using weird formatting shit as a crutch. For example:

Jared loved liked Jensen a lot. He thought he was fucking hot a great guy.

Just say Jared loved Jensen and thinks he's hot, for God's sake!

3. Using horrible euphemisms. For example:

Jared slid his pulsing member into Jensen's rosebud. Soon, explosions were coming from the heart of him, where he was nestled in, snug as a bug.

JUST FUCKING SAY HIS COCK IS IN HIS ASS, OKAY?

Okay, I only got two hours of sleep last night, because I'm being plagued by insomnia for the first time in my life, so I'm not in the greatest mood.

I've spent the past half hour searching for headers, and before I go any further, I just want to say, God bless the newsletter.

Now. Why is it so difficult to find good Jared/Sam headers? Everywhere I look it's Jensen, Jensen, JENSEN. And you know, JARED IS PRETTY TOO. HE DESERVES EQUAL FANART, DAMN IT.

...omg. I've become a Jared girl. This is your fault, flist. Six months ago I was content in my love for Jensen and then I came into the SPN fandom and all I heard was how great Jared was and how adorable and now I am BRAINWASHED.

Oh, and just one more tiny thing and then I'm done. Do not use this picture and then slap on something about Wincest. It's NOT a Wincest pic, it's J2. I realize I'm nitpicking, but you know. I'm grumpy.

Have I ever mentioned my biggest pet peeve in fic? No? Well, let me inform you. (And everyone else.) I have real issues with reading a fic that states it has been beta read, but is peppered with errors. Occasionally, there will be more than one beta reader, but still, far too many errors.

Now, I can forgive a typo or two. Hell, as a beta reader myself, I've missed many a typo, only to catch it after it's posted and have a total facepalm moment. But when grammatical errors abound, there's a problem.

And I can't blame the author, because they've attempted to have the issues (whatever they are) caught and corrected. The responsibility falls solely on the reader. And I'm tired of it, because it's ridiculous. If you don't know your rules, don't offer. It's that simple.
