  • Last night I was craving comfort food, so I made this casserole my grandma always used to make where she'd making stuffing and put it in a casserole dish, put unbreaded chicken tenders on top, then cover it with cream of chicken soup and bread crumbs, and it was delicious technology 100%! Also super easy, which I appreciate, since while making this I managed to forget to oil the casserole dish so it wouldn't stick, and also to preheat the oven. I have faith that one day I'll be less of a cooking disaster, but today is not that day.

  • I am fairly confident that my Big Bang is total badfic. Here's a question, actually. Is issue fic ever not badfic? And would attempted suicide qualify as issue fic? Because I think I'm fucked on two levels there.

  • I went to bed last night will all the windows in the house open, because my house stores heat like an oven and it was ridiculously stuffy in the house, and then woke up at 3:00am to pouring rain and it was FREEZING and had to walk through the house closing it up. Not on, weather.

  • Yogurt + fresh strawberries + granola = A++ food combination!

  • I like even numbers, and even though five isn't an even number, it feels like it should be.
  • Mood:: 'calm' calm

    I never preheat the oven. Well, hardly ever. I also rarely cook things at the temperature it says, because I'm too lazy to look it up. Everything gets done at 375. It's all good :D

    I don't think issue fic has to be badfic; I think the reason it so often is is that it's self-insertion fic too. Where an OFC attempts suicide and the known characters come in and save her and show her life is worth living and fall in love with her.... Or where the known character attempts suicide and an OFC with shiny hair and love in her heart saves him... I think issue fic should not be combined with OCs or the risk of Mary Sue is high. But I think there are some good fics out there that deal with 'issues' and are nothing like badfic.

    I tend to do the same with the temp, but I'm pretty good about preheating. Well, when I remember, that is.

    Ha. Well, there's no "saving" by any OFCs, or anything like that, so. Hopefully it'll turn out okay. I'm too far along to quit at this point, anyway.

    That casserole sounds really good.

    I agree on your yogurt combination. Now I want some.

    Five isn't even, but it's five, it's got a pattern to it.

    It IS really good! And super, super easy, so I love it.

    It's a delicious combination!

    Right? It feels even to me.

    Ooh, that sounds super, super tasty. *makes grocery list*

    I think a lot of things that people define as "badfic" can be done really well if the writer puts some effort into them. Which I am sure that you're doing.

    For some reason, I like odd numbers for lists. It's weird.

    It's so good. I really enjoy it.

    Well, I'm definitely putting effort into it. Who knows if it'll turn out okay, though!

    Heh, you and me both. Cooking is definitely a skill!

    The weather has been like that everywhere! It was supposed to rain in DC today, and instead its 65 and muggy. I looked like a moron in my fleece and rainboots!

    Mmm, strawberries. I really need to go grocery shopping

    Right? A skill I don't have yet!

    I bet you looked adorable in your fleece and rainboots!

    Strawberries are delicious!

    I think it's not so much that issuefic is a guarantee for badfic as much as that people just treat it that way. If anything about xyz issue is badfic, then anything, no matter how good, that people write about it will be. Personally? No, I think it can be done right.

    Well, I hope you're right. And I really hope people don't just assume it's badfic when they see the warnings. I'm doing my best to make it not be badfic!
